Scope: Structural Facade Design

Client: Schmidlin AG

The structural facade design comprised a total glass challenge. Cold-formed bending process took place to bend the glass in order to match the geometric requirements of the curved building envelope. Intense computational approaches were employed to investigate the structural behavior of more than 500 glasses. Novel methods were used in the design of casted steel brackets that allowed for rotational tolerances as they were necessary for the erection process.
